Dear colleagues,

After very careful deliberation and consideration, a decision was made by the Swiss Society of Cardiology, the Swiss Society of Cardiac Surgery, the Swiss Society of Pneumology, the Swiss Society of Thoracic Surgery in accordance with the congress presidents to cancel the SSC/SSCS – SSP/SSTS Joint Annual Meeting in Davos in June 2020.

In the midst of the further dramatic evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is the opinion of all involved societies that now is time for maximal concentration on medical duties and care and that the conduction of the congress is unrealistic and inappropriate given the current situation.

The board members of the organizing societies that had to take this decision are all very saddened – we would have been proud to see the effort put into the Davos meeting be rewarded by your participating, discussing, enjoying and exchanging after listening to the exciting highlights organized for you. 

Paid registration fees will be automatically and fully (100%) refunded to all participants, there is no need to specifically request a refund.

Non-refundable are costs for insurances, name change fees, handling fees such as manual registrations or invoice address changes, bank charges and credit card fees.

The Swiss Society of Cardiology, the Swiss Society of Cardiac Surgery, the Swiss Society of Pneumology and the Swiss Society of Thoracic Surgery are very proud and extremely thankful for the continued efforts of all medical professionals.

It is health professionals working in any public health capacity that are ensuring that we stand the greatest chance of limiting the damage done by SARS-CoV-2.

Although this decision will have substantial consequences for our societies, we are committing our remaining resources now to supporting the COVID-19 situation, and are hoping for an even bigger and better meeting in 2021.
